St. Louis
While we hadn't actually seen any real news in a while and have been essentially out of touch, several people had contacted us suggesting we reschedule St. Louis because of the huge storms that had just come through. We obviously decided to forge forth though, and had a great run. Carl from Omaha actually flew into St. Louis last night to join me for the run today, and it was fantastic to see him again this morning! We were off to the start and got started about 6:30 cruising toward the big St. Louis arch. After just a few minutes, Andrew from St. Louis joined us on his bike and led us through the whole course, which was really really great. He was even our own personal tour guide through the city as we passed landmarks, etc. The course was really beautiful, and the damage from the storm really didn't cause any problems. We hurdled some tree branches and power lines, but for the most part, it was pretty normal. Kirsten and Eric jumped in to join a few times during the run, and Carl and I just kept pressing on. We finished strong and turned in a great time. Friends from Rhodes Lloyd and Vinay were there at the finish to meet us, and it was great to see them. We went back to the hotel and did the massage/ice bath/cleanup routine, and were off to have brunch with Vinay and Lloyd. The crew and I had been talking about having a good brunch for quite a few days now, and we finally ran by a cool brunch spot today in St. Louis, and that definitely helped me pick up the pace for the remainder of the run. Brunch was well worth the wait and really hit the spot, then we were off to Indianapolis. We made it here safely, though we didn't realize we'd lose an hour today, so we were a bit disappointed by that, but should still get a decent rest. Had a good dinner and we're off to bed. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!
