St. Jude Memphis Marathon
Today was another great one! The start was none too cool, but there was still a great crowd there at 6am. Lots of great friends from college, the race director was out to get us started, and some folks from Memphis Track Club and Fleet Feet kindly led us through the whole course! I started out with probably 15 or 20 runners and people peeled away as the miles went by, but a Memphis local Ben held out all the way to the end, with just a few short breaks in the back of the truck. Vinh also cruised strong for the last 20 miles or so. Friends Pat, Mike, Chase, Jonathan, and maybe a few others ran with me on and off throughout the day and others came out to cheer. It was fun being back in Memphis, where I went to school at Rhodes College and seeing the familiar sites and running familiar streets. The miles just clicked off and before I knew it we were back at the finish at Autozone Park and we were even able to get in the back gate to finish on the baseball field as the actual course does. After the usual routine, we had an amazing lunch with a big group of friends for some nice Memphis BBQ. Feeling full and happy, we hit the road for Little Rock. We were slowed down a good bit by traffic, but made it hear safely. With a crazy storm going on outside right now, I'm looking forward to the promise of cooler temps tomorrow morning. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers! I can count the ones left on one hand now!
